Plantation Shutters in Fountain Hills, AZ

Shutters Built for Hillside Views and Full Sun Exposure

Fountain Hills is built on hillsides, and hillside homes have a particular window problem: the glass is oriented for the view, the lots step down so nothing shades anything, and the elevation means the sun hits harder and longer. Homeowners here are usually trying to solve heat and glare without covering up the reason they bought the house. Norman® Woodlore® shutters do that better than any other treatment we have installed.

The Shutters Direct Difference

Why Fountain Hills Homeowners Buy Direct

  • Direct Pricing

No showroom lease, no floor staff, no commission. You are paying for shutters and installation, not for overhead you never use.

  • 100% Norman® Exclusive

One product line, every time. Kurt installed the other brands for years and watched them fail in Arizona heat. Norman® Woodlore® is what he stands behind.

  • Owner-Involved Every Step

Kurt does the consultation and the measurement himself in your Fountain Hills home. The person quoting the job is the person responsible for it.

  • Built for the Desert

A solid wood composite core rated to 140°F, UV- and stain-resistant factory-cured finishes, and tight louver closure that blocks heat instead of filtering it.

Terraced Lots Mean Nothing Blocks the Sun

In a flat subdivision, the house next door takes some of the afternoon off your windows. In Fountain Hills the lots step down the hillside, so most homes have unobstructed exposure on at least one full elevation. Those windows run hot from mid-morning until sunset, and rooms behind them can sit several degrees above the rest of the house.

Shutters address that at the glass rather than downstream at the thermostat. Louvers close tight with no gaps, so you can shut the exposed elevation down entirely during peak hours and open it back up when the sun moves off. The rooms even out and the AC stops chasing one side of the house.

Angled and Oversized Openings

Hillside architecture produces windows that follow the roofline instead of the floor: angled tops, tall trapezoids, clerestory bands, and two-story spans in great rooms with the fountain or the McDowells in view. These get measured and templated in person. There is no way to do an angled top correctly from a plan set, because the framed opening and the drawing are almost never the same.

Divider rails are usually the answer on the tall ones — the upper section handles the high sun independently while the lower section stays open at eye level.

Wind, Dust, and Low Maintenance

Fountain Hills gets wind, and wind moves desert dust into houses. Shutters have no fabric to absorb it and no slat stack to trap it — a louver is a hard painted surface you wipe down. They also do not clatter in a breeze from an open window the way blinds do, and there are no cords to tangle or replace.

That combination is why so many of the homes we shutter here had blinds or shades first. The shutters are the last window treatment the house needs.

Common Questions

Fountain Hills Plantation Shutter FAQs

  • Yes, at no charge. Fountain Hills is part of our regular service area — we are in the northeast valley constantly between here, Scottsdale, Cave Creek, and Carefree.

  • Yes. Those are templated in person during the measurement visit so the panel matches the actual angle of the framed opening, not the angle on the plans. It is common work for us in hillside homes.

  • That is usually the biggest change homeowners report. Rooms behind a fully exposed elevation often run several degrees hotter than the rest of the house. Closing the louvers during peak sun blocks the gain at the glass, which evens out the temperature across the house and takes load off the AC.

  • Usually, yes. Wider louvers mean fewer horizontal lines across the glass, so the view stays as open as possible. We bring 2½", 3½", and 4½" samples to hold up to your actual windows so you can see the difference in place rather than deciding from a photo.

  • Norman® provides a lifetime manufacturer warranty on many products plus a 10-year no-questions-asked replacement on specific models for accidental breakage, and that coverage transfers to a future owner. We separately warranty our installation labor.
