Plantation Shutters in Paradise Valley, AZ
Premium Norman® Shutters Without the Showroom Markup
Paradise Valley homeowners are not usually shopping on price, which makes the reaction to our quotes interesting. What people react to is that the number is lower for the identical Norman® product they were just quoted elsewhere — and that the person measuring the windows is the person who owns the company. There is no sales rep working a commission structure in the middle of that conversation.
- Free in-home consultation with Kurt, the owner
- Norman® Woodlore® only — no other brands, no substitutions
- No showroom and no commissioned salespeople
- Installer with 25+ years in the Phoenix metro

Why Paradise Valley Homeowners Buy Direct
Direct Pricing
No showroom lease, no floor staff, no commission. You are paying for shutters and installation, not for overhead you never use.
100% Norman® Exclusive
One product line, every time. Kurt installed the other brands for years and watched them fail in Arizona heat. Norman® Woodlore® is what he stands behind.
Owner-Involved Every Step
Kurt does the consultation and the measurement himself in your Paradise Valley home. The person quoting the job is the person responsible for it.
Built for the Desert
A solid wood composite core rated to 140°F, UV- and stain-resistant factory-cured finishes, and tight louver closure that blocks heat instead of filtering it.
Walls of Glass, and What to Do About Them

The defining feature of a Paradise Valley interior is usually glass — floor-to-ceiling spans, corner windows without posts, sliders that stack four panels wide, and clerestories above them. Those openings deliver mountain views and a serious thermal load. Camelback and Mummy Mountain reflect afternoon sun back into the homes facing them, which is a factor most homeowners underestimate until they live through a summer.
Norman® Woodlore® panels on those openings do two jobs. Open, they fold back cleanly and stay out of the view. Closed, they seal — no light gaps between louvers, which means no heat gaps either. On very wide spans we use bypass or bifold configurations so the panels track rather than swing into the room.
Motorization and Hard-to-Reach Openings
Estate homes have windows nobody is going to reach with a wand — clerestories over a two-story great room, transoms above a stacking slider, glass over a stairwell. Norman® offers motorized tilt for exactly these, so an opening 18 feet up operates from a remote instead of a ladder.
We will tell you honestly which openings justify it. Motorizing every window in the house is rarely the right call; motorizing the four you physically cannot reach usually is.
Protecting What Is Inside the Room

Art, rugs, stone, and finished millwork all pay a price for unfiltered Arizona sun. UV is what fades a rug, bleaches a hardwood floor along the line the light tracks across it, and dulls a finish over a few seasons. Shutters give you granular control — you can tilt the louvers to kill direct sun on the west wall at four o'clock while keeping the room bright.
The finishes themselves are UV- and stain-resistant and are cured at the factory rather than painted on site, so the shutters are not the thing in the room that ages first.

Paradise Valley Plantation Shutter FAQs
Yes. Tall spans are typically divided with a divider rail so the upper and lower halves operate independently, and very wide spans are built as bypass or bifold panels so they track instead of swinging into the room. Anything genuinely out of reach can be motorized. We work all of this out opening by opening during the measurement visit.
Yes, Norman® offers motorized tilt. We generally recommend it for the openings you physically cannot reach — clerestories, transoms over stacking sliders, stairwell glass — rather than for the whole house. We will tell you where it earns its cost and where it does not.
They give you real control over it. UV is what fades rugs, bleaches hardwood in a line across the floor, and dulls finishes. Because you can tilt louvers to any angle and close them completely, you can block direct sun on a specific wall at a specific hour without darkening the whole room.
Because a showroom's lease, staff, and floor inventory are real costs and they end up in the price of the shutters. We carry none of it. Kurt comes to your home with samples, measures the openings himself, and quotes you directly. Same manufacturer, same product line, same warranty — a different cost structure behind the number.
It is a small, controlled crew — our installer has been putting shutters into Phoenix-area homes for more than 25 years. Most whole-home projects are done in one to two scheduled days rather than dragged out, and we walk every opening with you before leaving.
